Exploring the Divine Feminine
Join us for a spiritual retreat that will take us on a winter’s journey of self-discovery that integrates our spiritual selves with our earthly bodies. We will open the weekend with circle prayers and end with them much like our ancient mothers may have done. It is also the beginning of the lunar new year, marked by a new moon on Saturday. We will use the stories of Clarissa Estes Pinkola to inspire us through our weekend. Along the way we will discover some traditions from other countries and communities. With the help of material from Clarissa Pinkola Estes, we will explore the ways the goddess has always remained in the hearts and minds of spiritual or religious communities. She is “Our Lady of Guadalupe” the “Blessed Mother” the Corn Mother, the Great Mother, Mother Earth, and more. With stories and ritual, we will explore the divine feminine within each of us. We will look at our own relationship to the archetype of the “Mother.” |
Retreat Goal: In this age of assaults on our Mother Earth, controlling women’s bodies, and the denigration of the feminine in all its forms (attacks on trans women), there must be safe places for women (and women who identify as women) to find refuge and rejuvenation. Our goal is to celebrate the feminine in each of us and walk out on Sunday with a renewed sense of community and support.
Please consider a talent or skill you could share with the group: some writing you have done (poem, story, etc.) or leading the group in a dance or yoga, teaching a meditation, etc. We will incorporate these into our schedule as you sign up.
We will meet in a sacred circle, exploring rituals and stories. Yoga, meditation, tarot and other cards and symbols will also be explored. Please bring something to share for dinner on Friday evening. Our weekend ends with lunch on Sunday.
Activities will include:
-Massage
-Yoga
-Art
-Song
-Ritual
-Dance
-Tarot Cards
There will also be time for writing and quiet reflections. We will also share in cooking dinner together as we “host” each other in a nourishing meal. Friday night, bring something sweet to share for dessert. Soups and breads will be assigned to several women in the group for our Friday night dinner as people sign up. Saturday night, group will work together to prepare a meal. Breakfast and Lunch will be prepared by Ferry Beach kitchen staff.
Bring a talisman or symbol of significance with you. We will use these on a table we will create sacred space with.
Check in begins Friday at 4pm and check out ends with lunch on Sunday.
