June 12, 2020 - Be H-E-A-L-T-H-Y. Stay Germ Free.
Ferry Beach has been planning for the eventual return of visitors to our campus for many weeks. We have worked out our operational plans and have put many systems in place to protect our guests and staff during this pandemic. But all of our planning and precautions alone are not enough to prevent the spread of this virus. We ALL need to participate in this effort to ensure everyone's safety. Today, we are launching our "Be H-E-A-L-T-H-Y. Stay Germ Free" personal responsibilities campaign. Those of you who join us on campus this year will see reminders reminding you of your responsibilities while at Ferry Beach to help keep us all safe. These are the same steps we have been taking all along to ensure human safety including: HANDS CLEAN - Washing your hands thoroughly and frequently EVERYONE APART - Social distancing whenever possible A MASK IS KEY - Wearing a mask in all public spaces (Is currently required in Maine by Executive Order) LET'S ALL PITCH IN - Cleaning up and Sanitizing after yourself TRACKING TEMPERATURE - Self-monitoring temperature and for COVID-19 Symptoms (Fever or chills; Cough; Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing; Fatigue; Muscle or body aches; Headache; New loss of taste or smell; Sore throat; Congestion or runny nose; Nausea or vomiting; Diarrhea) HEAR & FOLLOW - Follow all public health orders from the state of Maine and rules and guidelines from Ferry Beach YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE - Be aware of your surroundings and who you are near in the event of someone becoming symptomatic We will be sending this information to all of our registered guests before they arrive to Ferry Beach this summer and requesting that they agree to our shared responsibilities. This will look different this year, but if we all do our part to keep each other safe, and stop the spread of this virus, the sooner we will be able to return to something more normal. |
June 9, 2020 - Maine Travel Restrictions Revised
Maine Governor Janet Mills has released a plan to relax the 14-day quarantine restrictions that would be complicating travel for our guests this summer.
The quarantine will be lifted immediately to residents of NH and VT. Restrictions will be modified on JULY 1 for those from other states.
This new layered approach will require some combination of testing, symptom checks, and public outreach to help ensure the health and safety of residents and visitors alike. Of course, we will also have guidelines in place to assure your safety while you visit.
You will be asked to "Know Before You Go" and prove via certificate that you have had a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of your arrival into the State of Maine. Those from Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont are exempt from this requirement.
The certificate will need to be completed during check-in and kept on file at Ferry Beach. Lodging facilities will not be collecting personal medical information. Should any issues arise the state may request further proof of your completed test paperwork, so please keep it in your records.
Guests from states other than ME, NH, or VT may alternatively choose to quarantine for the 14 days and will be required to certify you have done so before checking in to any commercial lodging.

March 18, 2020 - Ferry Beach Response to COVID-19
In the last few years we have accomplished a great deal at Ferry Beach for the comfort and safety of our guests. These changes include additional accessible walkways, the board walk, automatic door openers and more. We have also upgraded our buildings with heat pumps and air conditioning units. In all, safety has always been our driving force.
As you know, our world is facing a crisis: COVID-19. As the world-wide health professionals address this issue, we are paying close attention. We are also assessing what are the best ways that we can do our part to keep our communities safe.
At this time, there are a growing number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Maine and throughout New England (CDC Map). We are following the State of Maine’s CDC and the Federal CDC recommendations on social distancing and our facility is closed and staff are teleworking until further notice.
Like you, we are in a “wait-and-see” space. We want our summer season to go on as planned, but we also want our community, our country and our world to be safe. We hope you are practicing all of the protocols in your life as well. For now, we are anxious for our future, but making plans.
When we reopen we will be encouraging our guests to make good hygiene decisions by reminding them about frequent hand washing, not touching their faces, not holding hands; coughing or sneezing into a tissue or the crook of their arm and staying home if sick or believe you may have been exposed to a sick person. We are changing the way we will serve food in the dining hall. We will caution conference leaders regarding hand holding in gathering circles and to share with all participants, the need to refrain from enthusiastic hugs and kisses. For the safety of all of our guests, anyone displaying symptoms of a virus will be sent home immediately.
At Ferry Beach we follow the ServSafe guidelines and are careful to wash down surfaces with a germicide cleaning solution. We regularly wash down all doorknobs, light switches and other high-touch surfaces with approved disinfectants.
Please keep yourselves and your loved ones safe. Check back with us regularly for more information.
