Description
We have many ways of knowing within our very being.
Spirituality nurtures and opens our hearts in awareness,
meaning-making, connection and wise living. Imagination invites us into
deep wells of spacious ways of knowing, seeing and naming.
Spiritual Imagination, then, is the practice of generative engagement with the many languages of
the soul to listen for and nurture the deepest, most vital stories of well-being.
This fall retreat by the ocean is a gentle, playful deep-dive for exploring and experiencing a variety
of these languages through:
Breath
The senses
Embodiment
Story, Re-Storyation and the power of words
Myth, Metaphor and Symbol
The intimate sisterhood of Grief and Joy
Ritual
Expressive creativity as unbinding medicine
The practices of Reverence, Awe, Wonder
We will call upon the deep knowing of the mythic and multi-cultural La Loba and the Bone Woman (and other wise teachers) to guide us through the bones and seeds of our explorations, helping us to discern what to carry forward with us and what to relinquish in our quest for wellbeing.
This retreat offers a variety of activities engaging head, heart, body and soul. You are invited to participate in them as freely and as comfortably as you feel prepared to do. This is a safe, nurturing and judgement-free space.
We have many ways of knowing within our very being. Spirituality nurtures the knowing and practice of presence, connection, wholeness. Imagination invites us into deep inner wells and expanded ways of seeing and being. This time away by the ocean, as the fall leaves teach us how to be fluent, is an invitation to explore the many languages your soul speaks, remembering that it is multi-lingual and very wise. We will nurture both the bones of our sacred stories and plant seeds of deeper in-sight and ways of encountering the sacred.
In this retreat we will:
-experiment playfully and nonjudgmentally with a wide variety of soul languages through word, body, creative expression, voice, breath, contemplative spiritual practices, literature and storytelling
-return to your body lovingly, in wonder and gratitude
-rediscover your senses and your sensuality
-turn inward again and listen for your deep longings
-join a gathering of others yearning to slow time and expand their spiritual imagination
Your intrepid guides for this adventure into your spiritual imagination are Susannah Crolius and Marya Lowry.
Our time together will be held both purposefully and loosely, with plenty of time for personal reflection and renewal.
You do not need to be "arty," "creative," or "spiritual" in any way to find this time meaningful and renewing.
