Vintage Improv Festival
October 8-15, 2025
October 8-15, 2025
There is no doubt about it! The festival has a very characteristic vibe!
Yes, VIF is all about diversity. VIF exists despite the invisibility of age. If you see it, you get it. You don’t have to be a certain age to see it. Not all Vintage improvisers want to see it. But the truth is that ageism exists in 2025. At VIF we gather together to celebrate and acknowledge all our gifts. And one of them that we are very proud of it the life experience that every single one of us brings to the classroom, to the ensemble, and to the stage. Maybe it isn't cool for artists to be political but when you are the embodiment of an underserved group, each class, each performance and each intergenerational connection we bear witness to the beauty of age. We further stamp out the stigma that can be associated with age when it comes to improvising. At VIF we embrace our allies…all those younger than 50 who donate, advertise, participate, teach and play with us. All of us together created an international community that relishes in the VIF signature improvisational style…one that is connected, respectful and richly informed by life experience. Simply put, no other festival in the world is like VIF. Other festivals have their own special vibes and we don’t wish to take anything away from what those might be, but it is a fact that no other festival in the world boasts these credits. Typical ensemble size is between 6-10 with 8 being our sweet spot. It is not the 16-24 that is common everywhere else. Smaller class sizes mean more reps, more personal feedback, closer connections among improvisers and their instructors. We’ll have workshops led by world-class faculty members, curated teams, improv jams, delicious meals, and time for socializing, relaxing, and exploring the beautiful Maine coast, including the 117-acre Ferry Beach State Park. |
