Unlocking the Creative Process
Mondays, February 1st - February 22nd from 6-7pm
Online Workshop

Join Tilcara Gay Webb and Ferry Beach Retreat and Conference Center for a four part online workshop on indulging  your inner creative self  through a process of exploring and reflecting in a judgement-free space that welcomes messiness and celebrates the magic of the creative process.

Description:

Unlocking the Creative Process: Come indulge your inner creative through a process of exploring and reflecting in a judgement-free space that welcomes messiness and celebrates the magic of the creative process. Participants are invited to play their way through movement, mindfulness exercises, and visual art. There will be time designated for participants to share and reflect at every session.

Syllabus:

The workshop  consists of 4 days of exploring different ways of approaching and accessing creativity. There will be a few optional readings and clips for participants as well. Each day will have a different focus (visual art vs. movement-based exercises vs. exploring the senses, etc...) Participants are encouraged to keep a journal with them throughout the week and log their experiences in and out of the workshop. Each session will begin with a grounding/ warm-up exercise and end with a cool-down, which will often include sharing of experiences/ discussion. The mindset is experiential, and not product-oriented. We will participate in a variety of exercises meant to get the individual out of their "thinking/judging" mind, and more into the "doing" of their creative impulse. Participants will be encouraged to go out of their comfort zones and pay attention to what comes up. Exercises will be based around listening, letting the inner child do the guiding, and saying "yes" to what may arise.

Benefits from Workshop:

Stay connected with others. Build a community online. Create art and express yourself in a judgment-free environment.

Tilcara (she/her) holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of New Mexico in International Studies and Spanish with an emphasis on Latin American Feminist Performance Art. She currently lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico and has led programs in the Mountain Desert District and at Camp Unirondack in New York. As of this year, she has had the opportunity to work with artists all over the world thanks to making the switch online. She currently lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico where she enjoys making art by throwing things together and seeing what sticks.  Her theatre training is eclectic- she studied theatre and mask work for four years in Santa Fe, and later at Marcelo Savignone's studio in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This year, she spent time working on building her creative manifesto with Arthaus.Berlin and studied with Studio A.C.T. and The Groundlings Improv School. She looks forward to playing together!
This four-part workshop will be online through Zoom. If you have any questions about this workshop, please email: events@ferrybeach.org. Note: Please bring a journal.
