Join Martin Gagnon and Ferry Beach Retreat and Conference Center for a three part online workshop on deepening a sense of gratitude for self, others, and nature to create a more peaceful and less stressed mind.
Description: Using the meditation concept of metta bhavana, or loving kindness, this powerful three part workshop will focus on creating a deepened sense of gratitude and compassion for self, others, and nature. The transformative process will begin by celebrating the self and expanding this emotion of gratitude to others and our environment. The class will be a mix of lecture and interactive activities and discussion. Syllabus: Class One – Celebration of Self
Beginning with a brief overview of meditation as a self-care tool, this first class will look at the connection between our thoughts, emotions, and our reactions through an interactive presentation. Participants will be asked to share their meditation experiences to build community within the group. The class will conclude with a guided positive affirmation meditation based on the concept of metta meditation as we build and internalize gratitude for our many strengths. Class Two – Gratitude for Others
The class will begin with the Moon Bath ritual and sharing of reaction to the book The Gratitude Diaries. A brief lecture will then follow on the impact of chronic stress on our ability to feel gratitude. The class will end with a guided meditation that expands our gratitude out to others. Class Three – Gratitude for Nature
The class will begin with participants sharing their experiences of keeping a gratitude journal. The concept of mindfulness, with particular focus on nature, will be discussed. In addition, a brief session on the science of forest bathing will be given. The session will conclude with the popular guided Mountain Meditation. Benefits from Workshop: Stay connected with others. Build a community online. Find a sense of gratitude for self, others, and nature to create a more peaceful and less stressed mind. About the Instructor: |
