Expressive Landscape
|
The three day Expressive Landscape studio workshop is an intensive (but fun!) exploration of “why” we choose to paint a subject, and how this knowledge can, and should, affect everything, from composition, to format, to color palette in our paintings. Lyn’s goal is to get you thinking more clearly about the choices you make, and to show you how those choices add up to a more expressive, unique landscape painting.
|
Overwhelmed by the myriad choices the outdoors offers, artists can often become paralyzed before even beginning to paint. How do you decide what to leave in, or to leave out? You may get caught up in so much detail that your paintings suffer. This 2-day plein air workshop will help you identify what you want to say, and narrow down your focus for a strong, clear, unique voice.

Lyn Asselta admits that the landscape has been her muse since childhood, when the rocky coast of Maine mesmerized her daily with it’s weather changes by the minute. Her memories are rich in
detail of lands that exuded strength and serenity. Her deep reverence for the land brings those qualities into her paintings through the medium of pastel. Lyn has exhibited her landscape paintings throughout the United States, and has been included in invitational exhibitions in France and China. She has taught in Canada, Curacao and across the USA, averaging 6-10 workshops per year. Lyn is an IAPS (International Association of Pastel Societies) Eminent Pastelist, a Signature member of the Pastel Society of America, a member of the Salmagundi Club, and is a Member of Excellence in the Southeastern Pastel Society. She is founder and past president of the First Coast Pastel Society based in northeast Florida. In 2009, Lyn was selected as Artist in Residence at Acadia National Park in Maine. Her work has been featured in magazines including Pastel Journal, Pratique des Arts, and Plein Air Magazine. She recently selfpublished her first book, Seeing the Landscape, a compilation of her prose and paintings. Lyn Asselta’s work is represented by Gleason Fine Art in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, and at Cutter & Cutter Fine Art Galleries, Saint Augustine, Florida and Ponte Vedra, Florida |
