What if our brains were less like idea generators and more like antenna or docking stations for a larger consciousness? What if science has shown us that our brains focus on the energy of achieving and the energy of awakening? And that working with the awakening energy opens us to creativity and connection that is life enhancing, community minded and receptive to thoughts beyond our focused experiences? What if we also learned that the achieving brain: goal focused, task oriented may override and change the structure of our brains, carving pathways of depression, anxiety, stress and craving? Awakened brains allow us to broaden our perceptions and we feel more like seekers on a path, asking questions like: what is life showing me? It helps us feel more connected to others along with nature. This awareness is creative and life-giving and is statistically connected with people less likely to suffer from depression and addiction. Join us as we explore the key concepts of the book, The Awakened Brain, by Lisa Miller (Ph.D.), professor at Columbia University. When: We’ll meet for four Wednesdays in February from 6:30 – 7:30pm on Zoom. Dates: Wednesday, February 4, 11, 18, 25, 2026 Your facilitator: Cathy Stackpole is a seeker, holds a master’s degree in counseling psychology and has been on the path of understanding her own spiritual nudges all her life. She has facilitated several book groups for Ferry Beach and enjoys the camaraderie and community we make while sharing ourselves with each other, learning and growing. She is also the Executive Director of Ferry Beach. |
