Description
Quilting by the Bay welcomes you to a special retreat week. Set up your machine in a comfortably large air-conditioned room full of happy quilters. Bring your unfinished work and get informal and formal input as you need it. Or start a new project by joining our project group (more below) and to firm up your skills and learn new ones. Many of us are returning after multiple years of sewing by Saco Bay, and we welcome newcomers enthusiastically.
You will have a table of your own to spread out your work, nearby irons and boards, a design wall if you need it, and access to a raised cutting table for managing larger pieces of yardage. You can also choose our separate “quiet” room (where chatter is more minimal!) if distractions of beautiful fabric make you want to leave your machine and go shopping too often! And don’t forget the friendships and conviviality of like-minded sewists doing what they love the most.
We have a Show and Tell night (bring completed quilts and projects you’ve done), a “Skills and Tools Night” (brief introductions to new techniques), a quilt show that attracts attention all week, and a “group quilt” that circulates around the tables and goes home with a lucky winner. There may also be other fun surprises!!!
All conferees need competence with their machines and to have completed a beginner course before enrolling. (Finishing work—layering, basting, machine quilting—will be available if space allows toward the end of the week.) A detailed supply list will be sent to all registrants in early July.
