Shawn McCann, also directing during this week’s conference, said music in general is magical, but for him choral takes it a step further because “it’s living voices all coming together. There is something about adding music to text in the choral setting that elevates it.”
McCann, music director of UU First Parish Church of Groton, Mass., notes that studies show the health benefits of choir singing both physically and psychologically.
“It is a way to fully express oneself - mind, body and soul,” he said.
