August 23 - August 29

For the third year we offer this fabulous opportunity to explore a variety of southern Maine treasures. Join us to hike the trails of a saltwater farm; visit the State of Maine house (originally constructed at the 1893 Chicago Exposition) as well as the only still active Shaker community; sail out to Admiral Peary’s Eagle Island home or enjoy the Casco Bay mailboat run; see in operation the country’s second-oldest carousel at a 19th Century village; and perhaps even feast your eyes on two of the world’s largest . . . (come and find out).  All of this and more – jammed into several day trips.

On our first evening together we will plan the week’s itinerary. Some events require considerable walking, so healthy seniors (and wanna-be seniors) should apply. The costs for travel (by rental van) and bag lunches are included in the conference fee, but you are responsible for admissions and boat rides. Space in the van is limited, so please register early.

Coordinators: Carol Sue Hayden and Dick Hall launched this conference two years ago. For almost 70 combined years they have been living in and happily exploring assorted treasures in the State of Maine.
