Homecoming - Carrying that Ferry Beach spirit home and
into the fall!
Labor Day weekend provides a chance to reconnect with
Ferry Beach long timers and to welcome newcomers as we
gather for one last summer weekend. The informal
scheduling offers the opportunity to participate in
planned activities or to simply engage in conversation,
beach walks, and reading on the porch. Planned
activities include:
- Friendship circles, morning
chapel and Sunday worship, all of which offer
reflective ti
me
and spiritual sustenance
- Volleyball and a sand castle
contest.
- Evening sing-alongs and
pick-up music-making
- Folk dancing for both
beginners and those with more experience
- Small group conversations of
all kinds, including a chance to talk with the Board
of Directors and Executive Director Craig Lentz.
- Our annual meeting on Sunday
morning, which includes a chance to celebrate the
107 year old membership organization that is Ferry
Beach Park Association.
- The Annual Banathalon-a
silly intergenerational relay race with a banana
that has become a Labor Day weekend tradition.
Banana-carrying teams show athletic prowess and
creativity as they compete. You are invited to
compete, cheer on the teams or just laugh and enjoy
the fun!
- The fabulous Talent/No Talent
Show, the last one of the summer season.
- Our closing of summer circle
on Monday, when we gather up all of the spiritual
gifts of the summer season to take forward with us
into the autumn and bid one another au revoir
until we meet again.
Come alone or
with your family and create memories and connections
that will carry you through the year ahead!

Crew Reunion
Join the Crew kids from the past as they meet again
during Labor Day Weekend to catch up, catch rays and
catch the spirit. Did you miss the Crew Reunion last
year? Here’s an opportunity to see where and what
everyone has been up to.
This
weekend is for anyone who worked on crew in the past.
We all had the unique experience of spending a whole
summer on the Beach, watching different groups of
conferees come and go while we were the ones who really
ran the show.
We
will be showing pictures, telling stories, touring the
campus and enjoying the beautiful Beach without having
to work or have bed checks.
In the
evening we will have a campfire in the Grove, another
trip to Old Orchard to test our courage on the bumper
cars and plenty of time to relax and talk.
The
traditional Labor Day activities including the
Banathalon, Talent/No Talent Show and possibly a dance
will also be available.
This
is a laid back, free floating process that we all can
participate in. Last year’s first reunion had crew
retirees from over 2 decades who have all aged
incredibly gracefully.
We
look forward to seeing you here, at Ferry Beach, again.

Kelley. These should bring back some memories.
