Northeast UU Choral Festival
July 17 - July 24, 2010

Singing by the sea! Sacred songs, masterpieces of the choral repertoire, secular songs, chants and rounds, world music and a few surprises!
Improvising, harmonizing, sight reading, song leading, performing!
New songs, new experiences, new ideas, new confidence, new friends!
Great music, great surroundings, great food, great people, great memories!

Whether you are a choir director, a choir member, a minister, a religious educator or simply a person who loves to sing, this conference is for you.

Each morning after worship in our beautiful chapel in the grove, we'll gather with our talented workshop leaders to sing together. We will have the opportunity to sing through several new songs each morning during a Choral Reading Session. After a break, we will work on learning and polishing 2 or 3 pieces of different genres, chosen by our workshop leaders, for performance at various times during the week.

Afternoons offer free time to enjoy the beach, read a book, take a nap or get to know each other better. There will be late-afternoon workshops, which may include:

• Vocal technique and breath work
• Song leading/conducting
• Weaving music and worship together
• Music for healing

Ferry Beach provides programming for the children of parents attending those afternoon workshops at no extra cost.

After dinner and friendship circle there will be hour-long sing-a-longs. Possibilities include Broadway, UU kids' songs, songs from the hymnal, chants and rounds. People may also choose to spend this time working on performance pieces.

Feel free to bring a tape recorder so you can bring songs home with you. If there is a song you would like to share with the group, bring it along, but please respect copyright laws. Also, bring musical instruments for evening social hour. There will be a fee of $25 for music.

We look forward to singing with you!!!
