Summer 2017 Theme: Love
“There are also many ordinary people who spend their lives training in opening their hearts and minds in order to help others do the same. Like them, we could learn to relate to ourselves and our world as warriors. We could train in awakening our courage and love.” Pema Chodron
“Universalism calls us out of ourselves and into the world to love.” Carl Gregg
Our theme this summer is love. Our divine timing couldn’t be better as we have seen a rise in the challenges to love on so many fronts. The Buddhist teaching of “bodhichitta” is one that calls us to more than compassion in times when we feel the pain of the world. Pema Chodron in describing bodhichitta: asks us to “stay in touch with the heart throbbing quality of being alive.” As Martin Luther King reminded us, “hatred cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.”
Join us this summer as we explore the many facets of love, starting with self-love and moving to agape love. Each week we will explore what it means to be love in the world.
