WANTED: DUNE GRASS PLANTERS

How would YOU like to fill your lungs with rejuvenating Maine salt air this spring? Perhaps get a jumpstart on your Ferry Beach season? Thanks to the ongoing successful 2nd Century Fund Capital Campaign, we are ready to turn the (newly elevated) brown dunes into a lovely soft grassy green. To do this, we need a few teams of hardy dune grass planters. There is a small window of opportunity to plant dune grass, so if you can come to Ferry Beach on the weekend of March 28 (Coordinators' Weekend), April 4th or April 11th (the day before Easter), please let us know.

If you wish to join the Dune Grass Planter Team, you must register your interest in advance by contacting Hilary Green (fbregs@maine.rr.com or 207-282-4489). It is impossible for us to predict how quickly the planting will go or how many people will join us, so the office will let you know as soon as possible if your help is needed during the 3rd weekend. There is no charge to you as a volunteer.

When you register, please provide the following information:

  1. Your name and contact information (e-mail and phone number, if possible).
  2. What date(s) you are available.
  3. When you would be able to arrive and leave.
  4. If you plan to stay overnight Friday or Saturday.

Incidentally, we offer outstanding benefits, such as:

  • Great outdoor exercise.
  • Hanging out with a team of other beloved members of the FB community.
  • Plentiful delicious food and overnight lodging if`desired.
