Circle of Music Workshops: Reggie Harris
Sunday with Reggie Harris
"I'm Gonna Sing When the Spirit Says Sing!"
Reggie will lead a session devoted to singing songs found in the Rise Up and Rise Again books. These two treasure troves of amazing tunes have given us a resource of magic that hold thousands of joyous and meaningful songs. We will take a walk through the sections and explore the magic.
"Woody, Pete and Phil" (Guthrie, Seeger and Ochs)
These three powerhouses of song and struggle made the world sit up and take notice. They were all linked in the effort to bring out the stories and events that got too little light in the world. We'll sing their songs and look at the lives that changed the shape of music in meaningful ways. They wrote, This Land "If I Had a Hammer!" and "I'm Gonna Do What I Have to Do!" ...and they meant it. Their songs that speak to us now as powerfully as they did then. Come raise your voice.
Monday with Reggie Harris
"Songs that Moved the World"
From the Underground Railroad to the Civil Rights Movement to songs of the present day, songs have stirred the heart with passion and moved the feet to action. We will sing and celebrate the impact of songs that turned the world upside down.
This workshop is for everyone who loves to sing and have fun! (You won’t be required to read music.)
