Sacred Circle Dance at Ferry Beach
Sunday August 19 to Thursday August 23, 2018
Come join us for Sacred Circle Dance as a beginner or an enthusiast! Ferry Beach hosts a 4 day/5 night retreat to enjoy the special energies of Sacred Circle Dance with ample opportunities for down time, swimming, or exploring the beautiful coast of southern Maine.
Sacred Circle Dance has become worldwide, bringing people together for an experience of intentional community, mindfulness, and dances both old and new. Many of the dances have roots in music and cultures from around the world (including Balkan, Greek, and Celtic), while others are newly choreographed. The dances include moving meditations and lively, spirited dances. “Sacred” refers to the intention to create a contemplative/reflective experience, even for lively dances. Dancers hold the energy after each dance to enable contemplation, healing, and development of inclusive community and spirit.
The steps to the dances are simple, repetitive, and easy to learn - NO dance experience is needed and all dances are taught each time. Sacred Circle Dance embraces a universal welcome and inclusion, with a tradition of “There are no mistakes, only variations.”
This retreat offers a different type of “dance camp” experience, including a central campus for lodging and meals and a beautiful private beach. Newcomers will find at Ferry Beach a unique retreat environment with a variety of food and housing options (including camping, dorms, and limited deluxe cottages). Coordinators Evi Beck and Ron Willett are developing a schedule to mix dance sessions with free time. Additional dance facilitators will be Bobbi Bailin, Judy Robison and Judith Walton.
Come dance the sacred circle!
